Metal Music very Educational

Metal music for most of the people in the world considered this as just noise and is basically a "bad influence".

Well, I found an article that states that Metal music is educational according to one artist in South Africa.

According to this artist Parents need to be educated on the good influences of heavy metal music and how to deal with teenagers listening to the odd "bad" songs. Most metal music sympathizes with teenagers who are outsiders and teaches children to think for themselves about social issues.

Furthermore, most metal bands teach children that even though life may seem unfair, they need to "be strong and fight the good fight".

Parents have this fear of music which they themselves don't understand."

Women in Metal: Maria Brink of In This Moment

Women nowadays are slowly getting involve in metal and In This Moment's Maria Brink is no exception.

With the ability to go from seductive siren to screaming banshee within a verse, Maria Brink's vocal range and ability is equaled only by her white hot good looks. A great stage presence and a girl next door, down to earth quality combined with her undeniable sexiness and beauty guarantee her a spot on this list and on the minds of heavy metal fans throughout the world.

The Softer side of Annihilator

We all know that Jeff Waters and the rest of Annihilator are one of the best thrash metal bands from Canada yet here's a video of a rock ballad entitled ONLY BE LONELY in which Jeff Waters also sings. The song was so great that I had to post it here.

Lyrics

We've been apart a long time, it feels like years
the memories bring tears
good times, I think of all the good times
to keep my sanity 'til I get home

Refrain
(And) I know it's not how we planned it, it's crazy world out there
just hold on to the world we share

Chorus
I'll only be lonely for you
I'll only be lonely for you

Just remember as life goes by, what we have will never die
I'll always be waiting there for you
how long, it doesn't matter how long
cause time can never take you from my soul - no
(Refrain and Chorus)

good friends are hard to find - believe me it's true
I'll only be lonely for you.
(Refrain and Chorus)

Killswitch Engage - My Last Serenade Live (with Jesse & Howard)

I have read all about this performance during the onset of the Roadrunner United concert and I was wishing that someday someone would post the rarest performance of "My Last Serenade" with both Jesse James Leech and Howard Jones singing and that wish came true. ENJOY this Video KSE fans because this might be the last we see Jesse Leach sing a KSE song.

Mike Patton: The Rock Genius

Mike Patton

Seriously, there's no other rock vocalist that have the most diverse vocal style aside from being a songwriter, composer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist and voice actor like Mike Patton. He has fronted different bands/projects with diverse musical styles like Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Lovage, Fantômas, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Peeping Tom and, of course his main band Faith No More.

Patton has earned critical praise for his diverse vocals, which touch on crooning, falsetto, death growls, rapping, chanting, mouth music, beatboxing and scatting, among other techniques.

"Avant-garde metal, experimental metal, or art metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterised by the use of innovative, avant-garde elements, large-scale experimentation, and the use of non-standard sounds, instruments, and song structures" - wikipedia.org

I've been a fan of several band under these genre of metal music. Bands that I love to listen are Meshuggah, Neurosis, and Dillinger Escape Plan. Each bands has it's own diverse style of "experimental" music. These 3 bands are considered pioneers on these particular scene.

INTOLERANT: Pure Filipino Metal Madness

INTOLERANT
Formed by the members of two genre-defining bands, Intolerant's music is a mixture of traditional thrash metal combined with borrowed elements from death, stoner metal, hardcore and even classic rock n' roll.

Featuring Skychurch vocalist/bassist Russell dela Cruz (who now plays guitar, and still screams), Skychurch guitarist Joey Dizon on lead guitar and former Loss of Control members Mic Gallegos and Pepo Gohu (on bass and drums respectively…), Intolerant is dead-set in the process of making heavy metal even more creative, and open-minded– without abandoning the traditional elements that have made it both timeless, and uncompromising. Though Intolerant's inception seems almost recent, the band appeals as a group that has both the know-how and the balls to deliver with each punch.

Faith No More are Officially Back!

Faith No More , the kings of funk metal, are officially back and are no embarking on a Reunion European tour.

The official statement from the band:

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat--its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff....
BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.
Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:
Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton

Angulo: the Newest uprising Filipino band

Despite being relatively new to the scene, Angulo has consistently been winning raves and praise from their veteran peers in the band scene over the last 2 years for their intense sets, their jarringly hypnotic rock sound, and their unforgettable progressions, arrangements, lyrics and melodies. Bands as diverse as Urbandub, Chicosci, Sponge Cola, & Sandwich have asked the band to open for them regularly, signifying the trust and belief that these more-experienced bands have for them.

Aside from winning over the approval of scores of college and high school kids around the Metro, as demonstrated by the number of school gigs over the past year, they have also been staples for harder-edged Pulp Magazine events such as Summer Slam, Fete de la Musique, and the World Battle of the Bands, showing that their music is widely accepted by various sectors.

Angulo has also built a loyal core of fans through good ol’ fashioned hard work, non-stop practices, gigs and performances, online marketing, and a positive and goal-oriented attitude, and they believe that with the release of their debut album, they are ready for the mainstream.

The five members of Angulo, along with producer and engineer Pat Jalbuena of Kerplunk! Studios and co-producer Gabby Alipe of Urbandub, have completed their debut album, Blur the White Lines. It is a collection of 12 tracks that traverse a journey of emotions. From loneliness and love, to rebirth and redemption.

The carrier single, The Best Mistake, has already won the hearts of many in the online community and steadily rose up the NU107 Stairway to Seven daily countdown. It stayed at the no.1 position almost everyday for four weeks.

Music video shooting for the 2nd single, F.L.S., has finished, with established music video directors Greg Garcia & Pancho Esguerra (Bamboo, Urbandub, Sandwich, Ciudad, Sponge Cola) at the helm. Premiere date is on May 16, 2008.

Angulo has recently been chosen to open for New Jersey-based post-hardcore pioneers Thursday on May 30-31, 2008, for the Philippine stop of their tour. (source: Angulo Official Myspace Site)

Valley Of Chrome: Filipino Metalcore

a short biography
Though purists would dismiss this band's trademark sound as blasphemous and unfaithful to traditional music styles, Open minded individuals are in for a musical collage that would drive metal kids to mosh and sing along, hardcore kids to play air guitar, and convince emo kids to end whimpering and feel ten times bigger than they really are. Whether you like them or not, this band has become a force to be reckoned within the local music scene and whether the musical climate favors them or not, Valley of Chrome is here to stay.

Starting out with the desire to rock out in a hardcore band, They have endured both praises and criticisms for doing things their way, Not to mention some line up changes and their fair share of bad times, This only paved the way for them to change for the better and re discover old and appreciate new musical styles citing bands like In Flames, Atreyu, Shadows Fall, Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, old Metallica and Guns n' Roses as major influences on the band's dynamic guitar driven sound.

Currently the band is playing various gigs in and out of the metro usually along contemporaries. And the response from people have been very overwhelming, Inspiring the band to play every gig as if it's the first and last time they're ever going to play.

So far the band has released 3 EP's Beyond definition (2001), Transparent (2002) and Anthems for the sellout youth (2003) And their full length albums Love & Devotion (2004) and Never The Lifeless (2007) showcases Valley of Chrome in their best element showing the importance of heaviness and brutality, yet never compromising melody and musicianship...

jethro "sir jet":guitars;
tatel "kuya tatel":guitars;
goodtime jordy "dj bassick":bass;
